The contents of macro (Mg, Na, Ca, K, Cl, S) and trace elements (I, Br, Fe, Cr, Ti, P, Si, Sr, Zn, Cu, Al), as well as toxic heavy metals (Pb, Hg) was analyzed in 25 samples of four brown algae (Laminaria saccharina (Linnaeus) J.V.Lamouroux, Laminaria digitata (Hudson) J.V.Lamouroux, Fucus vesiculosus Linnaeus, Ascophyllum nodosum (Linnaeus) Le Jolis), harvested during the complex research expedition "The Arctic Floating University 2012", in the White and Barents Seas. Conclusions are drawn on the patterns in the accumulation of elements in brown algae depending on family and growth conditions, and also regarding the nutritional value of brown algae.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
