Данная статья посвящена понятию присутствия в виртуальной среде (опосредованному присутствию). В ней подробно разбирается основная терминология, связанная с виртуальным опытом: понятие присутствия, подходы различных школ, изучающих присутствие, виды и компоненты присутствия. Согласно данной работе, присутствие в виртуальной реальности является уникальным техногенным опытом, недостижимым в любой другой ситуации. Это связано с тем, что технология виртуальной реальности заменяет стимулы реальной среды стимулами виртуальной среды, предъявляемыми человеку c помощью очков виртуальной реальности или CAVE-системы. В случае полного погружения человек не видит вокруг себя ничего, связанного с реальным местом, в котором он фактически находится. Человек видит сгенерированное компьютером изображение, которое является объёмным и интерактивным, создавая иллюзию реальности. Фильмы и книги не создают такого эффекта. При чтении книги читатель видит буквы на странице, а остальное достраивает воображение. При просмотре фильма зритель видит субъектов, объекты и события, происходящие в стороне от него, и сохраняет возможность видеть окружающую реальную обстановку. Пользователь виртуальной реальности находится внутри изображения и его сенсорные системы вместо реальных стимулов обрабатывают виртуальные. Основная цель данной работы – дать представление о природе феномена присутствия в виртуальной реальности, об основных подходах к его изучению, о его видах и компонентах. Кроме того, в настоящей статье приводятся результаты эмпирических исследований, проведённых различными авторами, благодаря которым возникает возможность уточнить классификацию видов присутствия и связанные с ними переживания.
