The review focuses on the analysis of various methods of obtaining and applying therapeutic materials used for targeted drug delivery to the lesion site of cancer patients. Special attention is paid to creation of targeted drugs by using nanotransporters, obtained by dispersing lipids in water and, in particular, liposomes; efficiencyof such nanotransporters depends the nature of drugs introduced into them (cytostatics). The review also describes methods of targeted transport of cytostatics to tumor tissues. The use of hydrogel therapeutic compositions based on biopolymers polysaccharides for the targeted delivery of chemotherapy drugs introduced into them, allows to control the mass transfer rate of drugs to tumor and to create therapeutic materials with predetermined properties in terms of drug concentration in the lesion site and time prolongation, which reduces toxicity of the treatment and increase its effectiveness.
The article contains information about applying bio-engineering potential of the natural origin polymer systems, based on biodegradable polysaccharides, for the wound treatment. The unique biological and physicochemical properties of polysaccharides is a promising direction for atraumatic, controlled restoration of the damaged tissues with extensive acquired defects.

The article is devoted to the effectiveness evaluation of the use of sterile material «Kolegel 5-ftur» on the basis of sodium alginate with 5-fluorouracil, as of shape of disk, in the course of chemoradiotherapy in patients with rectal cancer, breast cancer and cancer of the floor of the mouth. The study group included 38 patients: 19 patients diagnosed with CRR, 10 patients -BC, 9 patients - a cancer of the mouth floor. The study used a hydrogel material «Kolegel 5-ftur» during chemoradia- tion therapy for histologically confirmed diagnosis of a malignant tumor. The effectiveness of the combined treatment is proved by the following criteria: local control of the tumor, the analysis of toxicity and immediate effect. Thus, the use of hydrogel materials «Kolegel-5-ftur» in group of patients with primary malignant tumor localization in the floor of the mouth, with the aggressive chemotherapy provided enhancing the effectiveness of therapy.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
