The results of the research work carried out during the period 2015-2017 are outlined. on the practical selection of pumpkin in the conditions of the Volgograd Transvolga. The results of studying the assortment of pumpkin varieties of domestic and foreign breeding in collection nurseries are presented. The most promising samples adapted to local soil and climatic conditions have high productivity (Sviteny, Chino, Marina di Chioggia, Silber Bell (USA), Kham (Laos), image (Spain), Local (Kazakhstan), Gribovskaya winter, Teshchenka , Zucchini Malchugan, and the quality of the fruit: (Chino, Chirimen nankin (Japan), Cachi JNTA (Argentina), Mantova Uyghur (Kazakhstan), Duchess, Vega F1, Sweetie, Pampushka, Green Warted Habbard (USA). A new hybrid material was obtained, an estimation of its productivity of consumer achestv, stability to bio- and abiotic factors. accessions selected promising superior standards major ecological and morphological and economically valuable traits. The characteristics of the best selected hybrid combinations are given in comparison with the standards. The most productive are hybrid combinations: Marina di Chioggia x Zorka, Zorka x Sweet banana, Silber Bell x Elegant, Sweet x Elegant, Local (Kirghizia) x Zorka, zucchini Mountain Anchor. The yield of these samples exceeds the standards by 13.3-92.2%. The quality of the fruit is distinguished by the hybrids: Marina di Chioggia x Zorka, Zorka x Marina di Chioggia, Pampushka x Elegant, Zorka x Sweet banana, Silber Bell x Elegant, Zaslavia x POOS6-07, Zorka x Oreshek, Altair x Elegant. The content of dry substances in the fruits of these samples is 2.0-8.8% higher than the standards.
Relevance. Melon as melon culture is cultivated in many countries of the world and is highly valued for its nutritional and dietary qualities. However, exposure to fungal diseases dramatically reduces the yield and taste of melons. Melon is affected mainly by powdery mildew and Anthracnose. In the conditions of the Bykovskaya melon breeding experimental station, the predominant type of powdery mildew is Sphaerotheca fuliginea. Evaluation and selection of the starting material with the identification of samples with complex resistance to these diseases is an important direction in the selection process, allowing to solve the problem of improving production efficiency and product quality.Methods. The aim of this work is to obtain melon varieties and hybrids with complex resistance to powdery mildew and Anthracnose. Complex stability was determined by artificial infection of melon plants in the phase of 2-3 real leaves by conventional methods.Results. 8 varieties and 10 F 1 hybrids of melon were studied for complex resistance to artificial Anthracnose and powdery mildew infection. Standard grade melon autumn was amazed powdery mildew of 81.2% with score lesion of 1.8 by Anthracnose, respectively, 93.8 per cent if the score is 2.3. The resulting hybrids were superior in stability to the standard. Hybrid x Ethiopian Farmer was amazed powdery mildew on 44% with score of 1.4. The prevalence of hybrid Original x Autumn was 54.4% powdery mildew with a score of 1.4, Anthracnose – 75% with a score of 1.8 (average for three years). The hybrid is fulfilled on economically valuable signs, has stable productivity of 17.5 t/ha, the content of dry substances in fruit juice to 17.2%. The samples and promising hybrids obtained with complex stability will be used in further breeding work.
Relevance. Breeding for resistance to diseases is one of the current trends in melon growing. The work of the Bykovskaya melon selection experimental station includes breeding pumpkin varieties that are not inferior to zoned varieties in terms of economically valuable traits, disease resistance and taste.Materials and methods. The object of the study was hybrid combinations of large-fruited pumpkin and nutmeg pumpkin, obtained as a result of intervarietal hybridization. The research was carried out in the Bykovsky district of the Volgograd region. Results As a result of the work carried out, the characteristics of the obtained hybrid combinations of pumpkin were given according to the main economically valuable traits: the duration of the growing season, the average weight of the fruit, the thickness of the pulp, the dry matter content, the yield, as well as the resistance to anthracnose and powdery mildew. An assessment was made in comparison with the standards and parental forms. As a result of the research, it was revealed that the shortest duration of the growing season, 115-117 days, is in combinations of large-fruited pumpkin Paradise - Vi x Graceful, Graceful x Paradise - Vi, Marina di Ch x Dawn. Among the nutmeg pumpkin, all samples along the length of the growing season are at the same level of 119-120 days. Average fruit weight and pulp thickness are inherited intermediately. In terms of yield, among the hybrid combinations of large-fruited pumpkin, samples of Marina di Chioggia x Zorka and Paradise - Vi x Graceful stood out. All hybrid combinations of nutmeg pumpkin exceeded parental forms in terms of yield, their yield ranged from 17.0 to 22.0 t/ha. In terms of resistance to powdery mildew and anthracnose, the combinations "Elia x Spaniard" (Uzbekistan) and "Muscat Provence x Vitamin" stood out.Conclusions. Thus, as a result of hybridization, two new hybrid combinations of large-fruited pumpkin and Muscat pumpkin were obtained, which have a complex of economically valuable traits and resistance to powdery mildew and anthracnose.
Melon, as a melon crop, is cultivated in many countries of the world, and is highly valued for its dietary and nutritional qualities. Melon's susceptibility to fungal diseases drastically reduces the yield and taste of the melon. In the zone of the Volgograd Trans-Volga region, melon is mainly affected by anthracnose and powdery mildew. Obtaining samples with complex resistance to these diseases solves the problem of production and product quality. Complex resistance was determined by artificial infection of melon plants, as well as in natural conditions. 4 hybrid combinations of melons were studied against the background of the standard cultivar Osen. As a result of the research, a hybrid combination of melon Dune × Ponap (Japan) F1 was isolated, which showed complex resistance both under artificial infection and in natural conditions.
