Адитивні технології – відносно нові для сфери машинобудування, проте вкрай актуальні і перспективні. Зрозуміти можливості таких технологій, визначити їх місце серед усталених технологій – важливе завдання сьогодення. В статті аналізується місце адитивних технологій, їх можливості з точки зору формоутворення, створення екстремально складних за формою деталей, що мають розвинену внутрішню структуру та структуру поверхні. Розглянуто можливості, які надають мультиматеріальні адитивні технології. Пояснюються причини парадоксальної властивості адитивних технологій бути інваріантними для складності деталей. Аналізуються основні можливості і тренди застосування адитивних технологій у проєктуванні й виготовленні високотехнологічних деталей в машинобудуванні та біомедичній інженерії.
