При проведении процедур в интервенционной радиологии и кардиологии врачи и персонал подвергаются наибольшему риску от полученного профессионального облучения.В связи с этим внимание ученых сфокусировано на профессиональных дозах для хрусталика глаза. Недавние эпидемиологические исследования показали, что радиационно-индуцированная катаракта наблюдается при более низком пороге дозы, чем считалось ранее в 2 Гр. На основании этих исследований в 2011 г. Международная комиссия по радиационной защите снизила годовой предел профессиональной дозы для хрусталика глаза в 7,5 раз до 20 мЗв, а пороговая доза для возникновения катаракты определена в 0,5 Гр. Многочисленные исследования показывают, что профессиональная доза на хрусталик глаза может превышать новый годовой предел, если не используются защитные средства и методы снижения дозы во время процедур.Современные требования радиационной безопасности требуют снижения лимита дозы для хрусталика глаза, внедрения дозиметрии хрусталика в клиническую практику, а также необходимости обучения медицинского персонала методам радиационной защиты по снижению дозовых нагрузок на персонал и пациентов.
