Аннотация. Введение. Психологическое состояние обучающихся оказывает непосредственное влияние на их способность и готовность справляться с трудностями обучения, во многом обусловливает успешность образовательного процесса и его результативность. В связи с этим актуализируется поиск методов и определение целей психологической диагностики, без данных которой проблематично осуществлять педагогическое сопровождение. Кроме прочего, на фоне увеличивающихся темпов и масштабов международной и межэтнической мобильности педагогу следует учитывать в своей деятельности менталитет и ценностные установки представителей различных культур, в том числе их понимание счастья и личного благополучия. Современные психологические исследования обнаруживают значимые различия в показателях счастья и удовлетворенности жизнью у представителей различных культур. Однако диагностический инструментарий, применяемый в таких исследованиях, строится преимущественно на модели, сложившейся в американской психологии. В связи с этим встает вопрос о том, в какой степени образ счастья соотносится в российской и американской культурах. Цели работы, описанной в статье, заключаются в изучении репрезентации состояния счастья у американских и российских студентов и в определении инвариантных и вариативных составляющих в структуре репрезентации. Методология и методики исследования. На первом этапе работы осуществлялся теоретический анализ и разработка онтологии предметной области «Психология счастья».
