Στόχος της παρούσας διατριβής είναι η διερεύνηση της Διαγλώσσας ατόμων που ζουν στην Ελλάδα, έχουν μητρική γλώσσα (Γ1) την Ελληνική και βρίσκονται σε προχωρημένο στάδιο κατάκτησης της Αγγλικής ως ξένης (Γ2) κατά την κατάκτηση της Γερμανικής ως δεύτερης ξένης γλώσσας (Γ3).Στις θεωρητικές προσεγγίσεις σχετικά με την Κατάκτηση της Γ3 βασικό και κυρίαρχο θέμα συζήτησης αποτελεί ο προσδιορισμός της πηγής της γλωσσικής μεταφοράς των συντακτικών δομών και των λειτουργικών κατηγοριών στη διαγλώσσα των Μη Φυσικών Ομιλητών/τριών (ΜΦΟ) κατά την κατάκτηση της Γ3. Εφόσον οι ΜΦΟ γνωρίζουν ήδη δύο γλώσσες, η πηγή της γλωσσικής μεταφοράς δεν μπορεί να προσδιοριστεί, παρά μόνο εάν μελετηθούν συγκεκριμένα συντακτικά φαινόμενα και παράμετροι που είναι διαφορετικά τιμολογημένες στη Γ1 και στη Γ2, και η Γ3 ομοιάζει ή/και διαφέρει με μία από τις δύο.Στη συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση διερευνήθηκε η Παράμετρος του Κενού Υποκειμένου, που είναι μία Παράμετρος, στην οποία η Ελληνική και η Αγγλική είναι διαφορετικά τιμολογημένες. Η Ελληνική είναι μία κατεξοχήν Γλώσσα Κενού Υποκειμένου, ενώ η Αγγλική είναι Γλώσσα μη Κενού Υποκειμένου. Αυτό, εκτός των άλλων συνεπειών για την επιφανειακή δομή των γλωσσών, σημαίνει ότι στην Ελληνική το εμφανές γραμματικό υποκείμενο μπορεί και να παραλειφθεί (π.χ. εγώ παίζω αλλά και Ø παίζω), ενώ στην Αγγλική κάτι τέτοιο δεν επιτρέπεται (π.χ. I play και όχι *Ø play). Η Γερμανική από πολλούς ερευνητές κατατάσσεται στις Γλώσσες μη Κενού Υποκειμένου γιατί κατά κανόνα δεν επιτρέπει την παράλειψη του υποκειμένου (π.χ. ich spiele και όχι * Ø spiele). Στην πραγματικότητα όμως, υπάρχουν και στη γερμανική γλώσσα ορισμένες περιπτώσεις, όπου επιτρέπεται η παράλειψη του πλεοναστικού υποκειμένου, για το λόγο αυτό νεώτερες προσεγγίσεις κατατάσσουν τη Γερμανική στις Γλώσσες Πλεοναστικού Κενού Υποκειμένου. Οι περιπτώσεις, όπου το πλεοναστικό υποκείμενο μπορεί να παραλειφθεί και στη γερμανική γλώσσα εντοπίζονται στην Παθητική Φωνή συγκεκριμένων ρηματικών κατηγοριών.Από τα παραπάνω προκύπτει ότι η Παράμετρος του Κενού Υποκειμένου στη γερμανική γλώσσα πραγματώνεται στις περισσότερες περιπτώσεις όπως και στην Αγγλική, ενώ σε ορισμένες όπως στην Ελληνική. Για το λόγο αυτό επιλέχθηκε να μελετηθεί η συγκεκριμένη Παράμετρος.Προκειμένου να διερευνηθεί η Διαγλώσσα των ΜΦΟ διενεργήθηκε πειραματική μελέτη αποτελούμενη από δύο πειραματικές δοκιμασίες, τη Δοκιμασία Δήλωσης Γραμματικής Ορθότητας και τη Δοκιμασία Δήλωσης Προτίμησης. Στις δοκιμασίες αυτές εξετάστηκαν οι κρίσεις και οι προτιμήσεις τριών πειραματικών ομάδων ως προς εκφωνήματα που περιείχαν το υπό εξέταση συντακτικό φαινόμενο. Οι δύο ομάδες αποτελούνταν από ΜΦΟ με διαφορετικό επίπεδο γλωσσομάθειας στη Γερμανική (Β1 και Γ1 αντίστοιχα), αλλά το ίδιο στην Αγγλική (Γ1) και η τρίτη ομάδα αποτελούνταν από ΦΟ της Γερμανικής και λειτούργησε ως Ομάδα Ελέγχου.Τα αποτελέσματα των δύο πειραματικών δοκιμασιών μας δείχνουν ότι καμιά από τις γλώσσες που ήδη γνωρίζουν τα άτομα που μελετήθηκαν δεν φαίνεται να παίζει σημαντικότερο ρόλο από την άλλη στη διαμόρφωση της διαγλώσσας τους, ούτε στα άτομα με μέτρια γνώση της Γερμανικής αλλά ούτε και σε αυτά με πολύ καλή γνώση της. Και οι δύο γλώσσες φαίνεται να είναι στον ίδιο βαθμό σημαντικές και διαθέσιμες προκειμενου να διαμορφωθεί η γλωσσική αναπαράσταση της γλώσσας–στόχου σε κάθε δεδομένη χρονική στιγμή. Από τα δεδομένα αυτά προκύπτει ότι το μοντέλο που περιγράφει καλύτερα τη διαγλώσσα των ΜΦΟ είναι αυτό των Flynn, Foley & Vinnitskaya (2004), δηλαδή, το Μοντέλο Αθροιστικής Ενίσχυσης της Γλωσσικής Κατάκτησης (Cumulative-Enhancement Model for Language Acquisition). Σύμφωνα με το μοντέλο αυτό μπορεί να υπάρξει είτε μόνο «θετική γλωσσική μεταφορά» είτε καθόλου γλωσσική μεταφορά από τις γλώσσες που ήδη κατέχει ο ΜΦΟ προς τη γλώσσα-στόχο.
