Σκοπός της παρούσας μελέτης ήταν η διερεύνηση της επίδρασης ενός προγράμματος κοινωνικής και συναισθηματικής μάθησης στη συναισθηματική νοημοσύνη μαθητών του δημοτικού σχολείου. Επιπλέον, μελετήθηκε η επίδραση του προγράμματος στο κλίμα της σχολικής τάξης, την ψυχική ανθεκτικότητα και την ακαδημαϊκή επίδοση των μαθητών, καθώς και η διαφοροποίησή του με βάση την τάξη και το φύλο. Στην έρευνα συμμετείχαν εκατόν σαράντα πέντε (145) μαθητές Δ’ και Στ’ τάξης δημοτικών σχολείων του Ν. Αττικής, οι οποίοι διαχωρίστηκαν σε δύο ομάδες: την πειραματική ομάδα με εβδομήντα πέντε (75) μαθητές, που παρακολούθησε στο πλαίσιο του μαθήματος Γλώσσα το καθολικό παρεμβατικό πρόγραμμα «Ευμενίδες», και την ομάδα ελέγχου με εβδομήντα (70) μαθητές. Όλοι οι μαθητές συμπλήρωσαν σε τρεις χορηγήσεις (προέλεγχος, μετέλεγχος και επανέλεγχος) τα εξής ερωτηματολόγια: α)Ερωτηματολόγιο ΣΝ ως χαρακτηριστικό γνώρισμα (TEIQue-CF), β) Κλίμακα Μέτρησης της Ζωής στη Σχολική Τάξη (Classroom Life Measure), γ) Χάρτες της Τάξης (ClassroomMaps) και δ) Ερωτηματολόγιο Δημογραφικών Χαρακτηριστικών. Επίσης, λήφθηκε υπόψη η βαθμολογία των μαθητών στους τριμηνιαίους ελέγχους. Τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας έδειξαν την ύπαρξη στατιστικά σημαντικών διαφορών και συσχετίσεων μεταξύ των μεταβλητών. Η συναισθηματική νοημοσύνη των μαθητών της πειραματικής ομάδας βελτιώθηκε σημαντικά, γεγονός που, συνεπακόλουθα, βελτίωσε και το κλίμα της σχολικής τάξης, την ψυχική ανθεκτικότητα και την ακαδημαϊκή επίδοσή τους. Το πρόγραμμα είχε μεγαλύτερη επίδραση στους μαθητές της Στ’ τάξης και στα κορίτσια,ενώ η επίδρασή του παρέμεινε στατιστικά σημαντική ακόμα και κατά την επαναμέτρηση. Τα ευρήματα οφείλουν να λάβουν υπόψη τους οι εμπλεκόμενοι στα εκπαιδευτικά δρώμενα για τη δημιουργία υπεύθυνων και ψυχοκοινωνικά ισορροπημένων μαθητών.
