Ιατρικής Σχολής τοϋ Πανεπιστημίου 'Αθηνών, παρ' ων ήρνσθημεν τάς γνώ σεις τής 'Ιατρικής 'Επιστήμης, αίσθανόμεθα ιεράν ύποχρέωσιν όπως εκφρά σωμεν τήν άπειρον και βαθειαν ενγνωμοσύνην μας.
H αναπαραγωγική διαδικασία είναι μία κρίσιμη, βιολογικά ενεργειοβόρα διαδικασία, η οποία διαταράσσει, προσωρινά, την ομοιοστασία του οργανισμού. O σκοπός της παρούσας έρευνας ήταν η μελέτη των μεταβολών των αιματολογικών και βιοχημικών παραμέτρων, των ορμονών του θυρεοειδούς αδένα και της οξειδοαναγωγικής κατάστασης του αίματος των κριών, κατά την αναπαραγωγική δραστηριότητα στη διάρκεια ενός προκληθέντος οίστρου. Στη μελέτη εντάχθηκαν 37 ενήλικοι κριοί, οι οποίοι πληρούσαν αυστηρά κριτήρια και κατανεμήθηκαν σε δύο ομάδες (Ομάδα Α, κριοί Χίου, n=19 και Ομάδα Β, κριοί Φλωρίνης, n=18). Κάθε κριός πραγματοποιούσε κατά βούληση συζεύξεις με 10 θηλυκά πρόβατα της αντίστοιχης φυλής, στα οποία είχε πραγματοποιηθεί συγχρονισμός του οίστρου. Αιμοληψίες διενεργούνταν πριν την έναρξη της αναπαραγωγικής δραστηριότητας (χρονική στιγμή Τ0), κατά τη διάρκειά της (24, 48 και 72 ώρες μετά την Τ0) και μετά το πέρας αυτής (1 εβδομάδα μετά την Τ0). Στους κριούς πραγματοποιούνταν γενική εξέταση αίματος (Advia 120, Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, USA) και κυτταρολογική εξέταση του επιχρίσματος του αίματος. Οι αναλυτές Flexor E (Vital Scientific N.V., The Netherlands) και AVL 9180 Electrolyte Analyzer (Roche Diagnostics, Belgium) χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για την πραγματοποίηση των βιοχημικών εξετάσεων στον ορό του αίματος. Συγκεκριμένα, προσδιορίστηκαν οι συγκεντρώσεις των εξής παραμέτρων: ολικές πρωτεΐνες, λευκωματίνη, σφαιρίνες, γλυκόζη, χοληστερόλη, τριγλυκερίδια, ολικό ασβέστιο, ανόργανος φωσφόρος, κάλιο, νάτριο, ουρία, κρεατινίνη και ολική χολερυθρίνη, καθώς και οι δραστηριότητες των ενζύμων ALT, AST, ALP, GGT, CK και LDH. Ο αναλυτής Immulite 1000 (Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics, USA) χρησιμοποιήθηκε για τη μέτρηση της συγκέντρωσης της θυροξίνης στον ορό. Ο έλεγχος της οξειδοαναγωγικής κατάστασης του αίματος πραγματοποιήθηκε με τη χρησιμοποίηση των d-ROMs Test (Diacron Labs S.r.I., Italy) και BAP Test (Diacron Labs S.r.I., Italy) και τη βοήθεια του αναλυτή Free Carpe Diem (Diacron Labs S.r.I., Italy). Χωριστά μικτά μοντέλα επιδράσεων χρησιμοποιήθηκαν για τη μελέτη της επίδρασης των παραγόντων Ομάδα και Χρόνος στις εξαρτημένες μεταβλητές (R, R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Austria). Σε κάθε μοντέλο έγινε έλεγχος για την ύπαρξη στατιστικά σημαντικής αλληλεπίδρασης μεταξύ των δύο παραγόντων (Ομάδα×Χρόνος), αλλά και κύριων επιδράσεων των δύο παραγόντων (Ομάδα και Χρόνος) στην υπό μελέτη παράμετρο. Υπό τις συνθήκες του πειράματός μας, η αναπαραγωγική δραστηριότητα συνδέεται με πολυάριθμες αιματολογικές, βιοχημικές, ορμονικές και οξειδοαναγωγικές μεταβολές. Η έντονη αναπαραγωγική δραστηριότητα αποτελεί μία φυσική δραστηριότητα, η οποία προκαλεί ήπια μυϊκή βλάβη και συνδέεται με παρουσία οξειδωτικού στρες στους κριούς Φλωρίνης, ενώ αντιθέτως, η κριοί Χίου αποδεικνύονται ανθεκτικοί, πιθανότατα λόγω του υψηλότερου αντιοξειδωτικού δυναμικού τους και της ικανότητάς τους να ενισχύουν την αντιοξειδωτική τους άμυνα. Εν γένει, οι παρατηρούμενες εργαστηριακές μεταβολές είναι συμβατές με αυτές που έχουν αναφερθεί σε διάφορες μορφές φυσικής δραστηριότητας και άσκησης στα ζώα και στον άνθρωπο και αντικατοπτρίζουν, κυρίως, την αυξημένη έκκριση κατεχολαμινών ή/και κορτιζόλης, τη σχετιζόμενη με την περίοδο αποκατάστασης διόγκωση του πλάσματος του αίματος και τη μειωμένη αιματική ροή των εσωτερικών οργάνων προς όφελος των υπερλειτουργούντων μυών. Επιπλέον, εικάζεται ότι το αναπαραγωγικό ένστικτο υπερισχύει προσωρινά του ενστίκτου της πείνας, επιδρώντας ήπια στον μεταβολισμό των κριών. Η παρούσα έρευνα αποτελεί την πρώτη ευρείας έκτασης μελέτη των εργαστηριακών μεταβολών που συνοδεύουν την αναπαραγωγική δραστηριότητα των αρσενικών και τα αποτελέσματά της θα πρέπει να επιβεβαιωθούν από μελλοντικές έρευνες.
