Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας είναι η μελέτη της συμβολής του Ελληνικού Παραδοσιακού Χορού (ΕΠΧ) στην καλλιέργεια κινητικών και κοινωνικών δεξιοτήτων στο χώρο του νηπιαγωγείου. Στην έρευνα συμμετείχαν 38 παιδιά (18 αγόρια, 20 κορίτσια) προσχολικής ηλικίας (ΜΟ=66±12 μήνες), τα οποία ταξινομήθηκαν στην πειραματική ομάδα (ΠΟ, n=19) και στην ομάδα ελέγχου (ΟΕ, n=19). Η ΠΟ παρακολούθησε το πρόγραμμα ΕΠΧ διάρκειας 10 εβδομάδων και συχνότητας δύο διδακτικών ωρών εβδομαδιαίως, ενώ η ΟΕ το καθημερινό πρόγραμμα του νηπιαγωγείου. Οι κινητικές και κοινωνικές δεξιότητες των συμμετεχόντων αξιολογήθηκαν πριν και μετά την εφαρμογή του προγράμματος με τη χρήση του Motoriktest für vier- bis sechsjährige Kinder και της Κλίμακας Αξιολόγησης της Κοινωνικής Συμπεριφοράς, αντίστοιχα. Από τα αποτελέσματα προέκυψε πως στις αρχικές μετρήσεις της Π.Ο. και της Ο.Ε. δεν παρατηρήθηκε στατιστικά σημαντική διαφορά μεταξύ των δύο ομάδων. Παρατηρήθηκαν, όμως, στις κινητικές δεξιότητες στατιστικά σημαντικές διαφορές μεταξύ αρχικής και τελικής μέτρησης στην ΠΟ και μεταξύ τελικών μετρήσεων της ΠΟ με την ΟΕ, ενώ στις κοινωνικές δεξιότητες, παρόλο που στην τελική μέτρηση παρουσιάστηκε διαφορά μεταξύ της ΠΟ και της ΟΕ, αυτή δεν ήταν στατιστικά σημαντική. Συμπερασματικά, ο ΕΠΧ δύναται να συμβάλει σημαντικά στη βελτίωση κινητικών δεξιοτήτων στο νηπιαγωγείο ενώ αναδεικνύεται και η δυνατότητά του να ενισχύσει περαιτέρω τις κοινωνικές δεξιότητες των νηπίων.
