Τα παιδιά με διαταραχές του λόγου και της ομιλίας παρουσιάζουν έκδηλες παρεκκλίσεις από τα όρια της τυπικής ανάπτυξης μιας ομιλούμενης γλώσσας. Η ύπαρξή τους συνυφαίνεται με δυσκολίες όχι μόνο στον τομέα της ακαδημαϊκής επίδοσης των παιδιών αλλά και με δυσκολίες στους τομείς της κοινωνικής και ψυχοσυναισθηματικής τους ανάπτυξης. Τούτο μαρτυρά πως οι διαταραχές του λόγου και της ομιλίας συνιστούν πέρα από εκπαιδευτικό, και ψυχοκοινωνικό πρόβλημα. Λαμβάνοντας υπόψη τη δυναμική αυτών των ελλειμμάτων, η συγκεκριμένη μελέτη επιχειρεί διαμέσου της κριτικής επισκόπησης της σχετικής βιβλιογραφίας, να παρουσιάσει τις ψυχο-κοινωνικές προεκτάσεις των διαταραχών του λόγου και της ομιλίας προκειμένου να ενημερώσει και να ευαισθητοποιήσει τον σύγχρονο εκπαιδευτικό απέναντι στα δυσμενή προβλήματα των οικείων μαθητών σε μια προσπάθεια να προκαλέσει την ενίσχυση της συνδρομής του/της στο έργο της ανίχνευσης, διάγνωσης, παρέμβασης, αξιολόγησης αλλά και πρόληψης· διαδικασίες διαφορετικές στις οποίες ο εκπαιδευτικός διαδραματίζει συγκεκριμένο αλλά καταλυτικό ρόλο. Ακόμη, παρουσιάζονται η σημαντικότητα της μελέτης και πιθανές περιοχές για μελλοντική έρευνα.
Η Συμπερίληψη, αντιτιθέμενη σε αφομοιωτικά ημίμετρα προηγούμενων πολιτικών, εμφανίστηκε στο σύγχρονο νεωτερισμό σε μια προσπάθεια εκρίζωσης των πιέσεων αποκλεισμού που βίωναν τα παιδιά με αναπηρίες ή Ειδικές Εκπαιδευτικές Ανάγκες (Ε.Ε.Α). Σήμερα, η Συμπερίληψη αναγνωρίζεται ως παιδαγωγικό εργαλείο κοινωνικο-γνωστικής ενθάρρυνσης όλων των μαθητών (με και χωρίς αναπηρίες) για την προώθηση της οποίας καθοριστικό ρόλο διαδραματίζει ο εκπαιδευτικός. Ως εκ τούτου, η συγκεκριμένη μελέτη επιχειρεί διαμέσου της κριτικής επισκόπησης της βιβλιογραφίας να παρουσιάσει τα διάχυτα οφέλη της Συμπερίληψης των μαθητών με αναπηρίες τόσο για τα παιδιά της θεωρούμενης ως μη τυπικής ανάπτυξης όσο και για τους τυπικά αναπτυσσόμενους συμμαθητές τους σε μια προσπάθεια να ενημερώσει τους εκπαιδευτικούς και συνάμα να προσανατολίσει την κουλτούρα, την πολιτική και την πρακτική τους σε άξονες πιο συμπεριληπτικούς. Υποστηρίζεται πως μια τέτοια ουμανιστική προσέγγιση προς τη διαφορετικότητα δε θα ευνοήσει μοναχά την κοινωνικο-γνωστική ενθάρρυνση του συνόλου των μαθητών αλλά επίσης και τον κοινωνικά δίκαιο μετασχηματισμό του σύγχρονου σχολείου.
Κατά τα παρελθοντικά έτη η δυσλεξία στο εκπαιδευτικό συγκείμενο, ακολουθώντας τα εννοιολογικά πρότυπα της ιατρικής επιστημολογίας, περιγράφηκε μέσα από μονοδιάστατες αιτιοκρατικές μεταβλητές και εξισώθηκε με μονοπαραγοντικές προσεγγίσεις, οι οποίες αφενός της προσέδωσαν αρνητικό περιεχόμενο και αφετέρου επικέντρωσαν το εύρος των παρεμβάσεων στην ιατρική διαμεσολάβηση. Εντούτοις, σήμερα οι ψυχοπαιδαγωγικές περιγραφικές προσεγγίσεις αναγνωρίζουν τη δυσλεξία ως πολυπαραγοντικό φαινόμενο μη αιτιακού χαρακτήρα για την υπέρβαση του οποίου καθίσταται αναγκαία η διδακτική διαμεσολάβηση. Ως εκ τούτου, η συγκεκριμένη μελέτη επιχειρεί διαμέσου της κριτικής επισκόπησης της σχετικής βιβλιογραφίας να διερευνήσει και να παρουσιάσει εκείνες τις πρακτικές, οι οποίες δύνανται μέσα από τη συμπεριληπτική αξιολογία τους να συμβάλλουν με τον πιο αποτελεσματικό τρόπο στην ενίσχυση του γνωστικού και κοινωνικο-συναισθηματικού ρεπερτορίου του παιδιού με δυσλεξία, αμβλύνοντας παράλληλα πιέσεις κοινωνικού και ακαδημαϊκού αποκλεισμού. Υποστηρίζεται συμπερασματικά πως μέσω των συμπεριληπτικών πρακτικών θα μπορέσουν όχι μόνο να αντισταθμιστούν τα κοινωνικο-γνωστικά ελλείμματα του παιδιού με δυσλεξία αλλά και να ενθαρρυνθεί το όραμα ενός κοινωνικά δίκαιου, ευπρόσδεκτου και φιλικού σχολείου.
