Εισαγωγή: Η Μικρογραφική Χειρουργική κατά Mohs (MMX), έχει ένδειξη για την αντιμετώπιση νεοπλασμάτων του δέρματος και των βλεννογόνων και λόγω του μικροσκοπικού ελέγχου, προσφέρει υψηλά ποσοστά ίασης και διατήρησης φυσιολογικού ιστού. Σκοπός της μελέτης: Σύγκριση της ΜΜΧ με τη συμβατική χειρουργική αφαίρεση ως προς τη μέγιστη διατήρηση υγιούς ιστού κατά τη θεραπεία δερματικών καρκίνων στην περιοχή της κεφαλής. Υλικά και μέθοδοι: Η παρούσα μελέτη αφορά σε δύο ομάδες ασθενών. Η Ομάδα Α περιλαμβάνει 310 ασθενείς οι οποίοι προσήλθαν για αντιμετώπιση νεοπλασμάτων του δέρματος με την Mohs Μικρογραφική Χειρουργική (ΜΜΧ). Η Ομάδα Β αφορά 177 ασθενείς οι οποίοι υποβλήθηκαν σε συμβατική χειρουργική αφαίρεση για καρκινώματα του δέρματος και εξετάστηκαν 47 ιστολογικές διαφάνειες μόνιμων παρασκευασμάτων σε παραφίνη. Για τη σύγκριση της διατήρησης υγιούς ιστού, δημιουργήσαμε την 'Ομάδα Α1' η οποία περιλαμβάνει 245 ασθενείς της Ομάδας Α και την 'Ομάδα Β1' η οποία περιλαμβάνει 27 ασθενείς της Ομάδας Β, με ΒΚΚ στην περιοχή της κεφαλής. Αποτελέσματα: Στα δείγματα που αναλύσαμε στην παρούσα μελέτη, προκύπτει ότι η σχέση 'ελλείμματος: όγκου’ είναι στατιστικά σημαντικά μικρότερη με την χρήση συμβατικής χειρουργικής αφαίρεσης σε σύγκριση με την χειρουργική κατά Mohs. Συμπέρασμα: Η Μικρογραφική Χειρουργική κατά Mohs, αποτελεί μια εξαιρετική μέθοδο για την αντιμετώπιση των καρκινωμάτων. Στην παρούσα μελέτη, από την ανάλυση των στοιχείων δεν υπάρχει πλεονέκτημα όσον αφορά τη διατήρηση υγιούς ιστού με την αντιμετώπιση των όγκων με ΜΜΧ αλλά δεν υπάρχουν δεδομένα μακροχρόνιας παρακολούθησης των ασθενών και καταγραφής υποτροπών στις δύο ομάδες.
