Fish Biology STUDIES ON TROUT (SALMO TRUITA L.) WILD S1VIOLTS OF THE RIVER REGA STUDIA NAD SMOLTAMI TROCI Salmo trutta L. POCHODZENIA NATURALNEGO RZEKI REGI The paper describes length, weight, age, and growth rate as well as seasons of trout wild smolts seaward migration from the Pomeranian river Rega. Since scales of smolts were at the stage of annual rings formation, age determinations were preceded by counting rings and analysing marginal incre ments. In order to obtain information on smolt condition, a nourishment index was calculated from the Fulton formula. * it is. '!''"'lrding to Bc•kiel {1962) and Sych (1967b), a fish growth correspc onding to the scale growth from the last annual ring to the margin.
Sea trout larvae were released in spring 1984 into the upper sector of Osowka Stream. Smolts of these fish were caught in three consecutive years after larvae release, in a fish trap placed in the middle course of the stream. The materials collected were used to determine period and water temperature at which smolts migrated downstream, as well as smolt length, weight and age composition.
The paper presents the following biological characters of trout (Salmo trutta L) smolts grown under natural condi tions of the river Molstowa: length and weight distribution, age, sex ratio, and gonad maturity stage.
The paper presents and analyzes the catches of salmon and trout in the Szczecin Firth and lower Odra River as well as in the rivers Warta and Notec over the period of 1952-1972. The both species had to be treated jointly because such is the case with informations given by the economic statistics avai lable to the authors. A year-to year, between-season and between-region variabilities were considered. Fish caught by the German (GDR) fishermen were also taken into account. Additionally, the postwar data concerning the lower Odra stocking with salmon and trout are collected.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
