Neural codes are collections of binary strings motivated by patterns of neural activity. In this paper, we study algorithmic and enumerative aspects of convex neural codes in dimension 1 (i.e. on a line or a circle). We use the theory of consecutive-ones matrices to obtain some structural and algorithmic results; we use generating functions to obtain enumerative results.
On the basis of the hypothesis that vascular pathology is of etiological importance in ozena, the microcirculation of 127 persons, with and without nasal diseases, was investigated by biomicroscopy of the conjunctiva and the nailbed. Ischemia and the pattern described in acrocyanosis were common features found in primary atrophic rhinitis and ozena. There was good correlation between the severity of the vascular pathology and the degree of nasal atrophy.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
