SAŽETAK Uvod Pušenje je kao vrsta ovisnosti u današnjem zdravstvenom sistemu važan problem. Radi povećanja nivoa svijesti o štetnom učinku pušenja cigareta, potrebno je provoditi kontinuiranu edukaciju. Treba pružiti sve vidove podrške pušačima, kako bi se odviknuli od konzumiranja cigareta. Cilj rada je bio utvrditi koliko zabrane i restrikcije u pušenju, utiču na to da studenti u Austriji (Beč), puše manje ili više od studenata u Sarajevu, kao i utvrditi stavove studenata u vezi konzumiranja duhana. Metod rada U periodu od 01.01. do 31.05.2017., sprovedena je anketa o štetnosti pušenja duhana i stavova o tome. Anketirano je 100 studenata, i to 50 iz Sarajeva i 50 iz Beča, približno jednake zastupljenosti po spolu (iz Beča 26 studenata muškog i 24 ženskog pola, iz Sarajeva po 25 studenata različitog pola). Specijalno dizajniran upitnik sadržao je 20 pitanja. Rezultati istraživanja su obrađeni putem SPSS-a, programa za statističku obradu podataka. Rezultati Rezultati pokazuju da duhan koristi više (63,8%) studenata iz Sarajeva nego onih iz Beča (33,6%). U anketiranoj grupi, većina koristi nargilu i to takođe više studenata u Sarajevu (55.4%) nego u Beču (44.6%). Studenti uglavnom puše jednu do dvije kutije dnevno, i smatraju da mogu prestati sa pušenjem kad to požele. Opasnost po zdravlje ih ne sprečava da puše cigarete i nargilu. Zabrane i restrikcije utiču na pušenje duhana kod studentske populacije u Beču, ali ne i u Sarajevu. Motivisanost za prekid pušenja je izuzetno mala. Studenti iz Sarajeva smatraju da druženjem sa nepušačima, ili bavljenjem sportom mogu prekinuti sa pušenjem. Studenti iz Beča su mišljenja da svjesnost štetnosti pušenja po zdravlje, može doprineti prestanku pušenja. Studenti su svjesni štetnosti pušenja duhana, a nargilu ne smatraju opasnijom od pušenja cigareta. Zaključak Pušenje duhana u mladih predstavlja sve zastupljeniji javno-zdravstveni problem, stoga je važno pojačati zakonske zabrane i restricije, kao mere prevencije. Buduće aktivnosti u rešavanju ovog globalnog problema, su edukacije mladih o štetnostima pušenja.
