This paper is a critical evaluation of the effect of mixing on biogas production rates in an anaerobic digester. Mixing plays a prominent role in determining the efficiency of the anaerobic digestion process. This review analyzes the miscellaneous effects of mixing (on the microbial community, methane content and volatile fatty acids) at various mixing intensities and during different stages of the digestion process. Intermittent mixing (mixing at intervals) seems preferable in terms of the quality and quantity of biogas produced, and results in lower power consumption and maintenance costs associated with large-scale biogas production. Preferable mixing time (the length at intervals) and the intensity depends on the geometry of the digester and impeller. The conclusion is drawn that the study of the slurry rheology is very crucial in the designing of the mixing equipment, the shape and size of the digester, and the pipe transport system which can assist in minimizing the initial investment and operational costs. Accordingly, this paper focuses on the parameters which determine the potency of mixing, such as viscosity, total solid content and digester design. Empirical data demonstrated by various researchers regarding rheological characteristics is compared and reviewed. Consequently, close attention should be paid toward the optimization of mixing in terms of its speed, mixing time and impeller geometry, especially during different stages of the digestion process (hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis and methanogenesis). Finally, readers will be guided to the extensive publications regarding optimization, directions of future research, and troubleshooting of the mixing operation in an anaerobic digester. This article aims to present some opportunities for improved solar energy utilization by raising the share of renewables in energy generation in the Visegrád Countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary). The analysis is based on the status of the renewable energy targets in the member countries and their future possibilities. This paper derives input through a thorough investigation of independent data, government policies, European Commission reports, and other data available online with free access. The analysis is processed by focusing on Hungary, as a country with various possible facets of solar energy demand and supply in the region. The assessment methodology is in the context of a geographical map, technical regression analysis, temperature distribution profiles, and the relative trends of solar potential in Hungary. The country currently has ten solar power plants with more than 10 MWp, and five remarkable plants under 10 MWp capacity spread over Hungary. The analysis on geographical aspects clubbed with technical and solar affecting parameters was carried out to harvest the sustainable potential of solar energy in the region. This study attempts to establish a relationship between the current and future prospects of solar energy in Hungary as a nation, and as part of the Visegrád countries, based on assessment for a sustainable future.

The aircrafts are responsible for emitting several types of pollutants, especially the pollutants in the form of NOX, CO2, CO, UHC, SOX and Particulate Matter PM (smoke/soot). The impact of aviation emissions on the global is well known, where these emissions modify the chemical and microphysical properties of the atmosphere resulting in changes of earth’s climate system, which can ultimate in critical changes in our planet fragile ecosystem, also the pollutants produced by aircraft engines cause many health problems. This is why the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) is seriously seeking to control the emission levels by issuing new standards during the successive meetings of the Committee on Aviation Environmental Protection CAEP (CAEP/01 in 1986, CAEP/2, CAEP/4, CAEP/6, CAEP/8, etc). The new regulations include more stringent standards aimed to reduce emission levels, this led to increased interest in low emission technologies. In this paper, a comprehensive review of low emissions combustion technologies for modern aero gas turbines is represented. The current low emission technologies include the high Technologies Readiness Level (TRL) including RQL, TAPS, DAC and LDI. Also, there are advanced technologies at lower TRL including LPP, ASC and VGC.
