Between Pluricentrism and Transculturalism: Issues of the Language of Hungarian Literature in SlovakiaThis study examines a specific type of language use in contemporary Hungarian literature in Slovakia. The literary works of several Hungarian authors in Slovakia include a language based on the contact phenomena and regional dialectics of the Hungarian and Slovak languages. This phenomenon is interpreted using the methodological tools of pluricentrism, which serves as a theoretical framework for the linguistic interpretation, and transculturalism, which is a point of departure for literary analysis. The interpretation of language contact phenomena, the levels of hybridisation and dialect focuses on the works of Gábor Kálmán, Lajos Grendel, Mila Haugová, Anikó N. Tóth, Anikó Polgár, Norbert György, Zoltán Hizsnyai, Árpád Tőzsér, Pál Száz.
In contemporary Hungarian literature, an increasingly important role is played by post-humanist-anthropocene forms of literary expression, the starting point of which is biological operations performed on the body. The bodily transformations that change the anthropological and evolutionary picture of man are accompanied by new biological constructs and power relations, as a result of which animal life forms acquire hybrid identities. Three Hungarian novels are discussed in the work: My Hero’s Square (2000) by Lajos Parti Nagy, A patkány éve [Year of the Rat] (2013) by Imre Bartók, Irha és bőr [Hide and Skin] (2019) by Anita Moskát. Their analysis is set in the context of posthumanism, ecocriticism and postmodernism.
This study focuses on literary mystification, which has become extremely common in Central European postmodern literature in recent decades. Mystification is essentially a game related to the authorial name, to pseudonyms, masks and various alter egos. The paper attempts to separate three procedures of postmodern text creation by considering the aspect of mystification: early postmodern text creation, based on the principle of imitation; areferential postmodernism, based on simulation, and the anthropological postmodern, which is present through a transitive strategy. The study analyses the pseudonymised works, among others, of István Baka, Árpád Tőzsér, Péter Esterházy, Lajos Parti Nagy, András Ferenc Kovács and Zoltán Csehy.
