The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the assertiveness and trait anxiety levels of adolescents differ based on certain variables such as gender, grade and age. The study was designed as a relational screening model. The participants of the study consisted of total 366 adolescents (189 females, and 177 males) who were enrolled in 5 different vocational high schools in İzmir province. The data were collected via Rathus Assertiveness Inventory, Trait Anxiety Inventory and Demographic Information Form. Descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA and regression analyses were used. The results indicated that there was a significant negative correlation between the assertiveness and trait anxiety scores of adolescents. When compared according to gender, females were found to have higher trait anxiety scores compared to males. Even no significant difference was found, males had higher mean scores on assertiveness. The results also showed that 12 th grade students have significantly higher assertiveness levels compared to 9 th grade students. Also 17-year-old students were found to have higher assertiveness levels compared to students both 15 and 16 years old. The results were discussed within the framework of the related literature and suggestions were presented.
This study examines the mediating role of psychological resilience in the relationship between psychological counselors' use of coping humor and psychological well-being through structural equation modeling. Research participants comprise 228 psychological counselors between the ages of 23 and 52, among which 130 are female and 98 are male. A correlational research model is used in the research as one of the quantitative research methods. Data is collected through the scales of Coping Humor, Psychological Well-Being, and Psychological Resilience. Data is analyzed through t-test, Pearson product-moment correlation and structural equation modeling.Findings demonstrate that there is positively significant correlation between coping humor, psychological well-being, and psychological resilience. Moreover, coping humor significantly predicts psychological well-being positively whilst psychological resilience remains a partial mediating variable in this relationship. Findings show that the conceptual model developed for relationships between coping humor, psychological well-being, and psychological resilience is statistically supported.
This research aims to investigate whether adolescents' body-cathexis predicted general self-efficacy by using Instagram. The study employs correlational research model and was conducted with a total of 790 students, including 503 women and 207 men. Body-Cathexis Scale and General Self-efficacy Scale were used to collect data. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) and item analysis (item total correlation and Cronbach Alpha) were conducted for the reliability and validity of the scales. Data were analysed utilizing Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation and hierarchical regression analysis. The findings show that initiating and resilience sub-scales of the general self-efficacy scores are at a good level. Persuasion subscale is at medium level and the participants have positive body-cathexis. The relationship between adolescents' body-cathexis and general self-efficacy was positive and body-cathexis and the use of Instagram together explained 12% of the change in general self-efficacy. Accordingly, while body-cathexis has a positive and significant effect on general self-efficacy, the use of Instagram has no significant effect on general self-efficacy alone. According to the hierarchical regression analysis, the use of Instagram has no moderator role in the relationship between body-cathexis and general self-efficacy. As a result, it is important for adolescents to develop the body-cathexis and general for personality, self-confidence as well as to cope with negative emotions.
