Abstract.Research proves that the financial support of agriculture is necessary in order to achieve sustainable economic development with other sectors of the economy. The aim of this paper is to assess the economic results of organic farms which benefit from public funds. The research issue was worked out on the basis of the data from organic farms in Podlasie voievodeship in the years
In the present article, an attempt was made to assess the environmental and economic sustainability of Polish and Lithuanian agricultural holdings specializing in animal production. The analysis covers the farms that participated in the FADN in 2006-2012. Assessment accounted for agroecological indicators (share of cereals in crops, stock density) and economic indicators (profitableness of land and labour). Analysis was conducted according to a classification into agricultural holding types: dairy cattle and granivores. In both countries, average stocking density in dairy holdings did not pose a threat to the natural environment. In the case of granivores holdings, such threats were present because standards specified in the code of good agricultural practice were violated significantly. From the perspective of economic equilibrium, holdings from this group achieved a better result than dairy cattle holdings. In Poland during the years 2006-2012, the average income of a family-owned agricultural holding per full-time worker in the family was 56 % greater than in dairy cattle holdings. In the case of Lithuanian holdings, the difference was still greater and amounted to 7 3 % to the benefit of granivores holdings.
The research problem discussed in the paper covers innovative mobility solutions in rural areas. This study aims to identify the specifics of innovative mobility solutions expected by inhabitants of rural areas based on the example of selected regions in Lithuania and Poland. The research was conducted between 2019 and 2021 in two rural regions: Druskininkai and Birštonas in Lithuania, as well as the Hajnowski district and the area of the Bialowieza Forest in Poland. The quantitative methodology was used, i.e., survey research. The research confirmed the proposed concept and showed relatively many innovative mobility solution proposals in both regions. Another method used in the study was correspondence analysis, which was performed to assess the strength of the correlation between the proposed innovative solutions and the age and education of the respondents. Comparisons were also made with the use of Pearson’s chi-squared test and the Cramér’s V statistical method. Among the options presented, organisational innovation—the synchronisation of timetables of various means of transport—was met with great interest in Poland and Lithuania alike. The introduction of electric bikes was considered the most desirable product innovation. Solutions that require the ability to use a mobile application are accepted, especially by young people and individuals with university-level education. The results of the research include transport solution models that are expected to improve the mobility of residents of rural areas. This comparative approach concerning slightly different rural regions in two neighbouring countries ought to be deemed a new approach.
Abstract. This paper analyzes the value of investments and their impact on fixed-asset reproduction in agricultural holdings depending on the profile of production. The time of analysis spanned the years 2009 and 2014, and data originated from the FADN system. The analysis accounts for the value and structure of assets as well as changes over time, net investment values, the fixed-asset turnover ratio and debt ratio. Improvement of the fixed assets to total assets ratio occurred in all holdings, which contributed to improving their competitiveness. Growth effects did not occur in all holdings, however. Only pig holdings were characterized by the capability of reproducing assets. In other holding types, despite investment in fixed assets, the net investment value and asset reproduction rate were negative. The results of management are certainly dependent on economic circumstances, and these were variable. Regardless of the results obtained, undertaken investment activity should be evaluated positively, as it indicates that current variability of production conditions is not a limitation in longterm planning of an agricultural holding's development.
