RESUMO O presente estudo objetivou identificar os fatores de risco para o desenvolvimento de lesão por pressão em pacientes internados em Unidades de Terapia Intensiva. Realizou-se uma revisão integrativa da literatura, cujo levantamento de dados ocorreu através das seguintes bases de dados: LILACS, BDENF, SCIELO e PubMED, e após a realização da busca pelos achados científicos, obteve-se um total de 05 artigos. Os achados desse estudo evidenciaram fatores de risco intrínsecos como: inconsciência e estado nutricional alterado, imobilidade, doenças cardiovasculares (AVE), incontinência urinária e anal, idade, dentre outros; e fatores extrínsecos como ação das forças de fricção e cisalhamento do indivíduo sobre o leito, insuficiência de algumas medidas preventivas (colchão inapropriado à distribuição do peso), e umidade. Dessa forma, conclui-se que como medida preventiva ao desenvolvimento de possíveis LPP é necessária a elaboração de protocolos institucionais padronizados especificamente para ações de prevenção das LPP em todos os setores das unidades hospitalares, e não apenas nas UTI, como também, uma abordagem profissional que respeite a individualidade de cada paciente, e oferte a assistência de acordo com suas necessidades.
