Ortaöğretim kurumlarındaki öğrencilerin ergen oldukları ve bu dönemde engellilikle ilgili verilecek eğitimin onlarda oluşabilecek engellilikle ilgili olumsuz tutumlarını engellemesi düşünüldüğünde; bu çalışma ile ergenlerin engellilikle ilgili tutumlarının belirlenmesi ve bu konu ile ilgili verilen eğitimin engellilere yönelik tutumlarına etkisini saptamak amaçlanmıştır. Tek gruplu ön test-son test yarı deneysel desende yapılan bu araştırmanın evrenini, 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılında İç Anadolu Bölgesinde bir il merkezinde bulunan ortaöğretim kurumlarında öğrenim gören 15-18 yaş arası 14,167 ergen oluşturmuştur. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise, tabakalı rastgele örnekleme yöntemi ile seçilen 3,863 ergen oluşturmuştur. Araştırma verileri; Sosyodemografik Anket Formu, Yetersizlikten Etkilenmiş Kişilere Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği (YEKYTÖ) kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Araştırmada verilerin analizinde parametrik testlerden bağımsız iki grup karşılaştırılmasında öğrenci t-testi, ikiden fazla grup karşılaştırmasında ANOVA kullanılmıştır. p<.05 düzeyinde olanlar anlamlı olarak kabul edilmiştir. Araştırmada yer alan ergenlerin %70,2'si 15-16 yaş grubundadır. Ergenlerin %84,9'unun yakınları, %89,0'ının arkadaşları arasında engelli birey bulunmadığı saptanmıştır. Araştırmadaki ergenlerin YEKYTÖ eğitim sonrası puan ortalaması (75,96±14,95) eğitim öncesine (66,69±21,98) göre artmış olup, bu fark istatistiksel olarak anlamlıdır (p<.001). Araştırmadaki ergenlerin ve ailelerinin tanıtıcı özelliklerine, okul bölgelerinin bulunduğu yer ve engelliler ile karşılaşma durumlarına göre eğitim sonrası puan ortalamaları eğitim öncesine göre artmış olup, bu artışın anlamlı olduğu belirlenmiştir (p<.01). Ergenlere verilen engellilere yönelik bilinçlendirme eğitimi, ergenlerin engellilere yönelik tutumlarını olumlu yönde değiştirmektedir.
