A report of Daurian Redstart Phoenicurus auroreus that bred and returned to the birthplace the year after birth in JapanYukiko TSUZUKI * This report is a report of a Daurian Redstart Phoenicurus auroreus returned a place of birth and breed on same place in Japan. On May 23, 2017, this breeding bird and a nest were discovered in Hokuto City, YamanashiPrefecture. The female parent of this nest has a ring for tagging by the Ministry of the Environment of Japan. We read tag number of the ring by taking photograph. The individual, which was a nestling, was ringed and released in a nest in 2016 and the place of the nest at a point about 220 m away from the breeding site. Daurian Redstart is a common winter bird in Japan, but in recent years there have been some repor ts from all over Japan and it is suggesting that the breeding distribution will expand. However, there is few information of basic ecology of Japanese breeding individuals of this species such as wintering grounds, migration routes, and distribution of young birds. This report will be support for estimating future population dynamics as a reliable record of the breeding of Daurian Redstart, which was born in Japan.
