Di kawasan pegunungan kapur (kars) Maros dan Pangkep terdapat gua-gua yang pada masa prasejarah dihuni oleh manusia. Selain sebagai tempat tinggal, dinding-dinding gua digunakan sebagai media untuk mengekspresikan pengalaman, perjuangan dan harapan hidup manusia dalam bentuk lukisan gua. Pada umumnya lukisan gua prasejarah di Maros dan Pangkep hanya memiliki dua warna yaitu merah dan hitam. Warna merah yang digunakan dalam pembuatan lukisan umumnya dapat dihasilkan dari oker (ochre) atau oksida besi (Fe2O3 (haematite) yang bersumber dari bahan batuan mineral, sedangkan warna hitam biasanya menggunakan bahan arang, Hasil analisis laboratorium terhadap sampel lukisan gua menunjukkan bahwa lapisan merah bahan lukisan menunjukan adanya senyawa CaCO3, Ca SO4, serta unsur Al, Fe. Unsur Pb juga terdapat pada sampel lukisan. Adanya unsur Pb yang teroksidasi dengan Oksigen menjadi Pb O pada sampel lapisan merah bahan lukisan, menunjukkan bahwa selain unsur Fe merupakan unsur utama dari bahan hematit memberikan dugaan bahwa senyawa Pb O ini juga memberikan peran dalam pembentukan warna merah pada bahan lukisan. Hasil kajian yang telah dilakukan, memberi hasil bahwa sumber lukisan gua berupa batuan merah saat ini masih banyak dijumpai di sekitar gua prasejarah di Maros dan Pangkep. Bahan untuk restorasi lukisan gua penting untuk segera dirumuskan mengingat selama ini restorasi lukisan gua prasejarah jarang dilakukan karena belum ditemukannya bahan pengganti yang efektif untuk diterapkan dalam lukisan dinding gua. Hasil penelitian terdahulu menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bahan hematit dengan campuran bahan kimia untuk restorasi lukisan gua kurang efektif dan warna lukisan agak berbeda dengan aslinya. Untuk itu dilakukan uji pembuatan bahan rekontruksi dengan bahan utama batuan merah dengan campuran bahan alami. Bahan untuk restorasi lukisan gua ini diharapkan aman untuk lukisan gua dan bersifat reversible serta tidak berdampak pada lingkungan. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan dari beberapa bahan alami, campuran daun sirih dan getah nangka memperlihatkan hasil yang efektif dan warna yang dihasilkan hampir mendekati dengan warna lukisan yang ada di gua-gua prasejarah.
Pura Gua Gajah merupakan peninggalan dari masa kerajaan Bali Kuna pada rentang waktu abad IX �XIII Masehi. Gua Gajah merupakan salah satu salah satu obyek dan daya tarik wisata utama di Bali yang banyakdi kunjungi wisatawan manca negara. Gua ini memiliki nilai penting yang tinggi dari sisi arkeologi, sejarah,estetika, ilmu pengetahuan dan ekonomi sehingga harus dijaga kelestariannya. Secara umum kondisi Gua Gajahyang mengalami kerusakan yang disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, sehingga perlu dilakukan kajian konservasinya.Kajian ini menggunakan metode Induktif kualitatif dengan tahapan tahapan kajian yang digunakan meliputitahapan pengumpulan data yang terdiri dari pengumpulan data pustaka dan pengumpulan data lapangan untukmengetahui kondisi keterawatan situs gua Gajah serta pengujian laborotorum pada sampel yang dibawa darilapangan, Tahap selanjutnya dilakukan pengolahan data hasil pengumpulan data lapangan dan data hasil analisisdi laboratorium serta data pustaka untuk mendapatkan hasil yang diinginkan. Hasil pengolahan data ini kemudiandianalisis untuk menjawab permasalahan yang ada. Pada tahap ketiga ini diharapkan diperoleh suatu kesimpulanyang sesuai dengan tujuan kajian.Dari Hasil kajian dapat diketahui bahwa batuan penyusun Gua Gajah merupakan endapan hasil aktivitas vulkanikyang tersusun dari campuran abu vulkanik (atau tuf ketika mulai membatu) yang tersortasi sangat buruk bersamadengan batuapung lapili, yang umumnya memiliki fragmen litik yang tersebar. Batuan penyusun Gua Gajahmerupakan endapan yang belum terkonsolidasi.Gua Gajah telah mengalami kerusakan dan pelapukan yang dapat mengacam keberadaan gua tersebut. Penyebabutama proses pelapukan batuan kemungkinan adalah proses fisis akibat kelembaban yang tinggi dan juga faktorbiologis. Untuk mengurangi kelembaban giua, di bagian atas gua perlu dilapisi dengan lapisan kedap air. Ada duaalternatif yang ditawarkan, pertama melapisi dengan menggunakan mortar dan kedua menggunakan bahan kedapair Geokomposit dan pembuatan saluran air. Sedangkan untuk mengurangi kelembaban yang disebabkan olehkapiler air tanah, bagian bawah tanah perlu dilapisi dengan bahan kedap air geomembran
Candi Borobudur merupakan salah satu warisan budaya masa lampau yang sudah ditetapkan oleh UNESCO sebagai Warisan Dunia. Upaya pelestarian Candi Borobudur sebagai salah satu Warisan Dunia (World Heritage) terus dilakukan oleh para pelestari, salah satunya adalah dengan melakukan perekaman secara digital dalam bentuk model 3D (tiga dimensi). Data - data yang disampaikan dalam kajian ini merupakan hasil survey yang terdiri dari (i) survey pemotretan udara menggunakan WUNA (wahana udara nir-awak), (ii) survey pemotretan terestris, (iii) survey terestris menggunakan sensor aktif laser scanner, dan (iv) survey GPS (Global Positioning System) teliti. Kamera yang digunakan dalam pemotretan udara maupun terestris adalah kamera digital format kecil non-metrik yang mempunyai karakteristik parameter orientasi dalam, seperti panjang fokus dan distorsi lensa, yang tidak stabil, sedangkan untuk pemotretan bagian candi yang sulit diambil dari udara seperti patung, relief dan stupa, digunakan teknik foto terestris rentang dekat yang mempunyai prinsip sama dengan teknik foto udara. Salah satu tantangan dalam pengolahan data hasil kajian ini adalah bagaimana teknik Fotogrametri Digital memungkinkan penggabungan keseluruhan foto yang diambil dengan data hasil survey GPS teliti sebagai titik kontrol dan memberi koordinat global pada model 3D yang dihasilkan. Penggabungan tersebut mempunyai tujuan untuk menghasilkan model 3D dengan ragam tingkat kedetilan (Multilevel of Detail). Beberapa objek dengan tingkat kedetilan tinggi, seperti patung, relief dan stupa, dibandingkan dengan model yang dihasilkan dari sensor aktif laser scanner. Setelah untuk analisis lebih lanjut. Kerangka kerja internasional untuk pemodelan kota 3D khususnya obyek Warisan.
Salah satu Cagar Budaya berbahan kayu adalah artefak. Faktor fisik maupun mekanik dapat menyebabkan artefak menjadi retak atau patah. Untuk menyambung fragmen-fragmen yang patah tentunya dibutuhkan perekat. Perekat yang diuji dalam kajian ini meliputi perekat dari bahan tanin dan gondorukem. Perekat dari tanin dan gondorukem dikombinasikan dengan berbagai macam pelarut. Untuk bahan tanin digunakan pelarut aceton, etanol dan formaldehyde, sedangkan untuk bahan gondorukem digunakan pelarut tiner, minyak cat dan toluol. Pengujian daya tahan perekat dilakukan dengan siklus yang terdiri dari 3 (tiga) perlakuan, yaitu menempatkan sampel kayu yang direkat pada suhu 50�C, pada kondisi kelembaban 95% dan pada suhu kamar. Untuk pengujian kekuatan perekat dilakukan dengan pengujian kualitatif kekuatan rekat dengan beban statis dan pengujian kuat geser. Pengujian daya tahan perekat diperoleh hasil bahwa perekat dengan bahan tanin-aceton dan tanin-etanol tidak tahan terhadap kondisi kelembaban udara yang tinggi dan memiliki daya rekat yang rendah. Hal ini diketahui setelah dilakukan pengujian kualitatif dengan menggunakan beban statis. Berdasarkan pengujian kuat geser diperoleh hasil bahwa perekat gondorukem-toluol memiliki daya rekat paling besar, yaitu 14,83 kg/cm2; berturut-turut selanjutnya tanin�formaldehyde 9,95 kg/cm2; gondorukem�tiner 9,52 kg/cm2; dan gondorukem-minyak cat 4,81 kg/cm2.
