Previous studies have produced contradictory findings regarding whether emotion exerts facilitative effects or inhibitory effects on perception. In the present study, we hypothesized that attention can be separated into the initial selection stage and the latter consolidation stage, and emotion plays a different role in each of these two stages. To test this hypothesis, we adopted the dual-stream rapid serial visual presentation paradigm (Goodbourn & Holcombe, Journal of Experimental Psychology: Human Perception and Performance, 41(2), 364–384, 2015), which provided separate measurements for selection latency (how delayed the attentional selection process is) and efficacy (how much information can be successfully consolidated for conscious report). The results suggested emotion’s dual role on perception. Firstly, the presence of negatively charged visual targets (which were Chinese characters in the present study) accelerated attention selection, and the acceleration effect could spread to different locations in the visual field. Secondly, negatively charged characters preoccupied attentional resources for consolidation, yielding location-specific facilitative and inhibitory effects.
In this paper, we present a physical rehabilitation assistant system based on skeleton detection with Kinect. The users do not have to install the detectors on the exercise equipment anymore. And then, they can just use the rehabilitation equipment with Kinect using the skeleton detection technique. In this study, we build a normalized three-dimensional Cartesian coordinates location of correct postures under OpenNI system. We find out 15 human skeleton joints with three dimensional coordinates and calculate the feature values, than we use support vector machine (SVM) as classifier to define the accuracy of posture. Finally, the system can judge the correct degree of user’s postures. Also, we can have the rehabilitation purpose.
The high oil-absorbing resin is a new type functional polymer material. The recent development of high oil-absorbent resin and its properties and synthesis were introduced in this reviewpaper. The absorption principle and process of highoil-absorbent resin are also presented. The effect of monomer, crosslinking agent and pore forming agent on high oil-absorption properties of oil-absorbing resin is investigated. At last, the present applications of the high oil-absorbing resin in environmental protection and other industrial purpose are also mentioned.
Different doses of electron beam was imposed on polyacrylonitrile(PAN) precursor fibers before the fibers were stabilized. The effect of electron beam irradiation on the chemical structure, orientation degree, surface morphology and tensile properties of PAN precursor fibers were characterized by use of fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), tensile test and scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The results showed that the extent of cyclization and orientation degree was increased firstly and decreased later. The surface morphology of PAN precursor fibers was smoother when the irradiation doses 150kGy and 200kGy. Tensile strength of the fibers was increased first and decreased later. The change of tensile strength might be in correlation with the changes of extent of cylization, orientation factor and surface morphology.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
