Solutions of two three-dimensional contact problems for a linearly viscoelastic foundation in sliding contact with a separate indenter and a periodic wavy surface taking into account adhesion are presented. Based on these solutions, the influence of the complete surface geometry, that is, shape of both tips of asperities and valleys between them, on the contact characteristics and deformation friction force is analyzed for various values of the normal load, sliding velocity, and adhesion parameter.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
