More than 1,180,000 people use several thousand coworking spaces these days, but the running of coworking spaces is a rather fragile business model. Coworking spaces need entrepreneurial sustainability as well. Therefore, this study identifies success factors for sustainable business through analysis of users and hosts' demands and priorities about coworking spaces. To identify the priorities, we conducted a questionnaire survey with 60 hosts and 56 users by using the analytic hierarchy process method. We found that hosts thought community and communication most important, followed by space and interior, service diversity, and price plan, and users considered relationship facilitation the most important, followed by service diversity, price plan, and networking event and party. After discussions with coworking space hosts and users to understand the differences in viewpoints, we combined the results to find the highest priorities. Finally, we identified relationship facilitation, service diversity, and price plan as having the highest priorities for sustainable coworking space operation for both sides. This study has major implications for research into improving management of coworking spaces as it asks users and hosts to select and focus on elements of priority in their decision making for entrepreneurial sustainability and management innovation.
Industrial green technology innovation has become an important content in achieving high-quality economic growth and comprehensively practicing the new development concept in the new era. This paper measures the efficiency of industrial green technology innovation and regional differences based on Chinese provincial panel data from 2005 to 2018, using a combination of the super efficiency slacks-based measure (SBM) model for considering undesirable outputs and the Dagum Gini coefficient method, and discusses and analyses the factors influencing industrial green technology innovation efficiency by constructing a spatial econometric model. The results show that: firstly, industrial green technology innovation efficiency in China shows a relatively stable development trend, going through three stages: “stationary period”, “recession period” and “growth period”. However, the efficiency gap between different regions is obvious, specifically in the eastern > central > western regions of China, and the industrial green technology efficiency innovation in the central and western regions is lower than the national average. Secondly, regional differences in the efficiency of industrial green technology innovation in China are evident but tend to narrow overall, with the main reason for the overall difference being regional differences. In terms of intra-regional variation, variation within the eastern region is relatively stable, variation within the central region is relatively low and shows an inverted ‘U’ shaped trend, and variation within the western region is high and shows a fluctuating downward trend. Thirdly, the firm size, government support, openness to the outside world, environmental regulations and education levels contribute to the efficiency of industrial green technology innovation. In addition, the industrial structure hinders the efficiency of industrial green technology innovation, and each influencing factor has different degrees of spatial spillover effects.
The increasing focus on environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) has led to a growing interest in how firms’ internal behaviors affect their contributions in promoting sustainable economic development and fulfilling social responsibility. While previous studies have often explored the impact of internal controls on corporate investment decisions, little attention has been paid to the impact of internal controls on corporate green innovation. To this end, we explored the relationship between internal control, environmental investment, and green innovation using data from 2014–2019 for A-share listed companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen, China. The regression results show that there is a significant positive relationship between internal control and corporate green innovation. The improvement of internal control has a significant positive impact on firms’ active adoption of environmental protection investment. Environmental investment plays a partially mediating role in the process of internal control’s influence on green innovation. This implies that the effect of internal control on green innovation further affects green innovation through the indirect effect of environmental investment, in addition to the direct effect. Moreover, through further research, we find that the above influence relationship is significantly present in both heavily polluting and non-heavily polluting enterprises, as well as in state-owned and private enterprises, but is more significant in heavily polluting firms and private firms. Finally, this study responds to the debate on whether internal controls inhibit or promote enterprise innovation. We advocate further research on this issue in the future in terms of the differences in the accountability systems and customs of firms’ decision-making in different countries.
With the rapid development of the P2P (peer-to-peer) online lending industry, which is facing significant credit risk, personal credit evaluation is an important method to reduce credit risk. Based on the various indexes of personal credit risk evaluation of domestic and foreign commercial banks, and according to the characteristics of P2P online lending, this paper analyzes the factors that affect the credit risk of P2P online borrowers, introduces the unique risk factors in the field of Internet information, and constructs an index system of personal credit risk evaluation of P2P online lending, which combines qualitative and quantitative indexes, including six major indexes and 21 small indexes. It then quantifies each index and defines the judgment standard of the evaluation results. Using analytic hierarchy process (AHP), expert scoring method, and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, this paper establishes a personal credit risk evaluation model of P2P online lending based on AHP method. The public information of two borrowers on the “PaiPai Lending” platform are selected for experimental verification. The results show that the improved personal credit risk evaluation model has better applicability and can evaluate the borrower’s credit status more scientifically, accurately, and comprehensively; thus, it is an effective method of personal credit risk evaluation of P2P online lending.
The relationship between green technology innovation and corporate financial performance has gained considerable traction in academics and businesses. However, there is limited overall bibliometric analysis on this topic. To meet the research need, this study, using Citespace (Citespace5.8r3 version, ChaomMei Chen, Philadelphia), performed the bibliometric analysis of the relationship between green technology innovation and corporate financial performance from 2007 to 2021, with 251 academic papers published in the Web of Science databases being analyzed, thus identifying the research hotspots and trends. The results showed that: (i) the number of publications has moved from slow to rapid growth and is expected to ramp up further; (ii) only a small collaboration network has been formed among the authors; (iii) institutions’ work operates relatively independently. There is still more room for inter-institutional or cross-discipline cooperation against geographical regions. However, there is a strong network of cooperation among countries. China performs best in this research area, followed by Spain and the UK; (iv) several significant co-citation relationships are also formed in the literature network. The burst literature on green innovation, product innovation, and financial performance is considered a research hotspot; and (v) “green innovation”, “corporate performance”, “legitimacy”, “environmental disclosure”, and “corporate sustainability” have become trends in research. Our results provide academics and practitioners with a robust roadmap on the relationship between green technology innovation and corporate financial performance.
