Combination of water mist and atmospheric pressure discharges is introduced as a kind of dusty plasmas and a tool for engineering and medical techniques. The water mist from the discharges can be a carrier of reactive species effective for inactivating spores of a gram-positive microorganism. The O and N species produced by the metastable Ar involving the atmosphere, and the water mist possibly containing OH radical excited by the discharge are discussed to understand reaction schemes for inactivating the spores.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
