Heat transfer experiments were carried out to investigate the boiling characteristics of LN2 in a narrow channel made by silicon crystal, which simulated one of the cooling channels of first crystal of DXM. Heat transfer coefficients in nucleate boiling and DM3 heat fluxs in the narrow channel were obtained and compared with some existing correlations. These values will be used in the numerical simulation to calculate the thermal distortion of the crystal more accurately. LINTRODUCTION X-ray irradiation ofthe optics causes thermal distortion of the optics. Excessive thermal distortion of the optics harmes the performance of the optics. As for the first crystals of double crystal monochromators (DXM), which will be installed in the beamlines of large scale SR facilities, it is often reported that a fall in the intensity of X-rays will become noticeable because these optics will be exposed by strong X-ray radiated from insertion device.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
