Isopropenyl and vinyl acetates (IPA and VA) are useful acetylating reagents for the resolution of enantiomers in the chiral compounds by lipase (triacylglycerol hydrolase, EC 3.1.1.3) catalyzed transesterification in organic solvent (1-8): IPA and VA irreversibly react with the active serine residue in lipase to give the acetyl-enzyme intermediate [Enz-Ac] because isopropenyl and vinyl alcohols are immediately converted to acetone and acetaldehyde by keto-enol tautomerization and this irreversibility serves to acceleration in the 105 JOS
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
