Background and ObjectivesThis purpose is to present guidelines for anatomical structure and correct injection method that must be known when injecting deoxycholic acid (DC), which is used for the purpose of reducing fat volume for submental fat hypertrophy. Materials and MethodsThe papers related to injectables used for fat volume reduction from 2000 to 2022 were searched on Google Scholar, related contents were summarized, and clinical photos of DC injection patients from November 2021 to June 2022 were compared and presented. ResultsAnatomically, it is necessary to be careful when injecting the marginal mandibular nerve, mental artery, and submandibular gland. In particular, accurately measure the thickness of each patient's submental fat. Care should be taken not to cause skin damage by injection. Therefore, it is most important to inject after confirming the anatomical boundary with ultrasound. ConclusionDC injection, which is performed after confirming major anatomical areas using ultrasound and accurate measurement of fat thickness, is effective way to reduce double chin fat volume.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
