This study presents a reflection on how the business and events tourism segment has been constituted as an important agent for socioeconomic development in tourist destinations. Therefore, this paper analyzes the experience of the city of Joinville, through a qualitative research, through the application of a questionnaire to the participants of 5 major events that took place in the city of Joinville (Brazil) in 2018. The discussion of the results reiterates the economic importance of the events for the destination.
