La enfermedad celiaca es una patología sistémica autoinmune, en la cual la ingesta de gluten en personas con susceptibilidad genética se desencadena una respuesta inmune, causando manifestaciones clínicas no solo a nivel gastrointestinal, sino también sistémico. Su prevalencia e incidencia han ido en aumento y es un importante diagnóstico en la población pediátrica. Debido a que la enteropatía llevará a problemas como malabsorción, pérdida de peso y deficiencias nutricionales, se debe tamizar a los grupos de riesgo y también a los niños con clínica compatible con la enfermedad, para evitar grandes consecuencias en su desarrollo, y mayores complicaciones. El diagnóstico se basa en la sospecha clínica, el uso de serologías, y en algunos casos, la toma de biopsias y/o las pruebas genéticas. Una dieta libre de gluten es la medida más importante para lograr la resolución de los síntomas y la normalización de la arquitectura intestinal.
La hiperhidrosis es una condición de sudoración excesiva, que puede deberse a causas primarias o secundarias. De forma primaria es provocada en una gran mayoría de los casos por una disfunción autonómica, que lleva a un control deficiente de la sudoración emocional durante la vigilia. En los casos secundarios se debe a factores fisiológicos, patológicos, medicamentosos o por toxinas, que pueden causar una sudoración excesiva, durante tanto el sueño como la vigilia. Es una condición de la cual no hay datos epidemiológicos tan claros, ya que las personas no tienden a consultar por esto. Existen diversos tratamientos que se pueden utilizar, inicialmente antiperspirantes tópicos, algunos tratamientos sistémicos, inyecciones de toxina botulínica y finalmente, en algunos casos se recurre al manejo quirúrgico.
La hiperemesis gravídica (HG) es una condición común durante el primer trimestre del embarazo que provoca alta tasa de hospitalizaciones. No existe un consenso en cuanto a los criterios diagnósticos por el Colegio Americano de Obstetricia y Ginecología (ACOG) y otros Colegios de Obstetricia, sin embargo es una enfermedad caracterizada por náuseas y vómitos severos que pueden provocar daño orgánico, sin otra causa. Las pacientes primigestas, con embarazo múltiple, con embarazo molar tienen más riesgo de presentarla. Su fisiopatología es poco clara y existen varias hipótesis al respecto. La severidad de esta enfermedad es valorada con la escala PUQE y el diagnóstico es clínico. El tratamiento consta en cambios del estilo de vida e intervenciones farmacológicas y no farmacológicas, siendo estas efectivas para aliviar los síntomas y evitar la progresión de la enfermedad.
