This study has identified a discrete pattern of ERK activation in normal rat kidney and an increase in ERK activation following obstruction. The temporal and spatial relationship in which ERK activation preceded tubular cell proliferation suggest that ERK signaling plays a key role in tubular epithelial cell proliferation in the injured kidney.
Our findings identify a major population of M2-type macrophages in patients with CAI, and suggest that these M2-type macrophages might promote the development of interstitial fibrosis in IF/TA-NOS.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
