It has been found that acetone chemical ionization (Cl) mass spectra of many stereoisomers of monosaccharides show apparent differences which do not appear In the corresponding Isobutane or ammonia Cl mass spectra. Factors affecting the Cl mass spectra, such as source temperature, acetone pressure, surface condition of the sample tube, and amount of sample have been Investigated to find the optimum experimental conditions for the Identification of these Isomers.
