Densities of aqueous solutions of Me4NBr, Et4NBr, and Bu4NBr have been measured using a magnetic float apparatus. The concentration range was from (0.005 to 0.04) mol·kg−1. The temperatures were (278.15, 288.15, 293.15, and 298.15) K. The experimental values were used to calculate apparent molal volumes, partial molal volumes at infinite dilution, and partial molal expansibilities at (278.15, 288.15, 293.15, and 298.15) K. The ionic contributions to the properties were calculated using the additivity rule. The results are interpreted in terms of solute−solvent interactions.
The molar electrical conductivities of tetramethylammonium,
tetraethylamonium,
tetra-n-propylammonium, and tetra-n-butylammomium bromides in aqueous solutions at (278.15, 283.15,
288.15, 293.15, and 298.15) K have been measured in the concentration
range from (0.002 to 0.04) mol·kg–1. The data
were analyzed according to the low-concentration chemical model (lcCM)
of Barthel. Values of the limiting molar conductivities, Λ∞, and association constants, K
A, were evaluated. Using known values for the limiting molar
conductivity of bromide ion, the limiting molar conductivities of
the tetraalkylammonium cations were evaluated at all temperatures.
The Walden product and the Eyring activation enthalpy were calculated.
The results are discussed in terms of solute–solvent interactions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
