Streets, which are one of the places where publicity is most intense. Streets constıtude of city more than ¼. Streets are very important in terms of mobility and placemaking. Social behaviour on the Street is the result of the interaction between people and the environment. As horizontal and vertical components on the street “thresholds” are interfaces that affect the current appearance of the street. People first communicate with the urban environmet through visual perception. In the study three wide angle Street view were taken on Maçka Street and the “threshold” interface that increase the visual perception were photographed. Visual impact on Maçka Street is being evaluated 10 experts on the subjects. Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Multi-Criteria Decision Making Technique (PROMETHEE) are used in the study based on social analysis. Three wide angle Street view are evaluated on the basis of criteria determined with in the scope of gestalt principle and urban design theories. Each determined main criteron and sub-criteria are compared among themselves. The results from the three street views are digitized and show on the Geometric Plave Analysis (GAIA) as (+1) (positive) and (-1) (negative) distribution. In the study, the effect of thresholds on the formation of visual perception on Maçka Street was determined through three wide angle street views. It is seen that the “ threshold” in the built environment affect the visual perception positively and are effective in the formation of intensive usage areas in Maçka Street.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
