Our findings suggest that HLA-B*15:02 is significantly associated with OXC-SJS in Asian populations (Chinese and Thai). However, the severity and incidence of OXC-SJS/TEN are less than that of CBZ-SJS/TEN. The need for preemptive HLA-B*15:02 screening should be evaluated further.
Poster background Oxcarbazepine (OXC) is a structural analog of carbamazepine (CBZ). OXC is considered a promising alternative medication for patients who cannot tolerate CBZ because of its equivalent clinical effiecacy and fewer cutaneous adverse drug reactions (cADRs) compared to CBZ. HLA-B*15:02 allele was shown to strongly associate with carbamazepine (CBZ)-induced Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)/toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) in Chinese and Southeast Asian populations. However, the epidemiological data about OXC-induced cADRs in recent years is limited. This study aims to investigate the clinical characteristics of OXC-induced cADRs and their genetic associations with HLA-B*15:02.
A 48-year-old woman presented with multiple mobile subcutaneous nodules on the right lower extremity for 1 year. The first subcutaneous nodule developed on the right ankle, increased in number, and spread to the proximal part with linear arrangement. The nodules could be pushed and displaced with greatest mobility up to 2-3 cm in the vertical direction. These lesions were asymptomatic except for mild tenderness on palpation. No worthy trauma history was mentioned. A clinical examination revealed multiple highly migrating rubbery mobile subcutaneous nodules [Figure 1a]. Other physical, ophthalmological, and neurological examinations were all normal. Laboratory
Multiple parameters affecting the transmembrane current in resistive pulse sensing were investigated, including the size, shape, tilt angle, path and relative position of the translocating sample, as well as the diameter of the conical-shaped nanopore and the voltage applied. M13 bacteriophages and monodisperse carboxylated polystyrene beads of 212 nm in diameter were used in this study. The finite-element simulation and experimental results showed the tilt angle, path and shape of the sample indeed affect the magnitude of the blockade current. Interestingly, current peaks of the opposite polarity to the blockade current were observed under certain conditions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
