This paper addresses a phenomenon of color shift found during the development of a colored poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) compound for exterior automotive application containing, among other pigments, red anthraquinone (C.I. Pigment Red 177) and titanium dioxide (TiO2). Color was found to shift about 2 points delta b* on a CIELAB scale from yellow to blue during the first one month and a half since the compound had been processed. The shift took place at the regular conditions: room temperature with no exposure to sunlight or heat.
