In 2021-2023 in areas located along the Araz river within the Republic of Azerbaijan, 108 specimens of wetland birds of 21 species studied by the method of full helminthological dissections, as result 59 species of trematodes found, of which the author first indicated two species for the fauna of Azerbaijan. The trematode fauna of individual bird species ranged from one to 13 species. In birds feeding mainly on fish, 42 species found; in birds feeding mainly on invertebrates -8 species; in birds feeding both plant and animal food -19 species of trematodes. The ratio of the number of trematode species and bird species in the first trophic group was 3.5, in the second group -2.7, in the third -3.2. Of the noted trematodes, one species can parasitize in the intestines of humans and domestic carnivores, cercariae of 1 species cause cercariasis in humans, 2 species are pathogens of bird diseases, and 5 species are pathogens of fish diseases.
