Detecting chiral edge modes in topological materials has been intensively pursued in experiments. However, the phenomena caused by the modes are not yet elucidated theoretically. We study the dynamics of chiral spinon wave packets at the edge in Kitaev-type magnets. More precisely, by relying on the exact solvability of the models, we construct a spinon wave packet, localized edge magnetization, which shows oriented propagation along the edge, whose behavior is expected from the chiral character of the dispersion relation of the chiral edge modes. In general, this approach enables us to study not only spin transport in anisotropic magnets but also charge transport in Bogoliubov-de Gennes-type superconductors because it does not rely on a conserved quantity.

This paper proposes a high-performance robust tracking control system for next-generation optical disc system. The proposed tracking control system consists of robust feedback control system and perfect tracking control system based on error-prediction. The proposed robust feedback control system has a good performance of sudden disturbance suppression for improving a free parameter. Moreover, the periodic-disturbance suppression performance of error-prediction feedforward control system is improved by using zero phase low-pass filter (ZPLPF), in comparison with the conventional control approaches. The experimental results point out that the proposed tracking control system has a precise tracking response against both the periodic disturbance and the sudden disturbance.

Abstract.The Carrion Crow Corvus corone has two distinct social types: territorial pairs and flocks of non-territorial individuals.The foraging area and roost utilization of territorial and non-territorial individuals were studied in Ina Basin from 20 March 1992 to 31 December 1993. To study behavior at the individual level, I banded 96 non-territorial birds (1 year old=30, over 2 years old=66) and in addition attached radio transmitters to 10 of them. Territorial individuals defended their territories with their partners. The teeritorial pattern was stable throughout the year. Non-territorial individuals formed flocks and foraged in areas of farmlands and riverbed which were not occupied by territorial pairs, and shifted foraging areas seasonally.Territorial birds could become non-territorial if their territory was taken over by other crows. Radio-tracking studies showed that non-territorial birds changed roost sites during the study period. Most non-territorial individuals were sexually immature. I conclude that young birds of both sexes change foraging areas and roosts to increase the chance of becoming territory owners and live in flocks only until they can acquire a breeding territory.
