Zingiber officinale Roscoe is commonly used in food and pharmaceutical products but can also be used in cosmetics and daily necessities. In recent years, many scholars have studied the chemical composition of Zingiber officinale Roscoe; therefore, it is necessary to comprehensively summarize the chemical composition of Zingiber officinale Roscoe in one article. The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive review of the chemical constituents of Zingiber officinale Roscoe. The results show that Zingiber officinale Roscoe contains 194 types of volatile oils, 85 types of gingerol, and 28 types of diarylheptanoid compounds, which can lay a foundation for further applications of Zingiber officinale Roscoe.
It is known that fluorination on π-conjugated donor-acceptor (D-A) polymers can significantly affect the optoelectronic properties and fluorination on A moiety has been well established for design of efficient photovoltaic materials. For example, polymers based on 4,7-dithienyl-5,6-difluorobenzothiadiazole (DTffBT) have been intensively investigated and exhibited excellent performance, but the corresponding DTBT-based polymers without fluorine often display an unfavorable efficiency. With the purpose of improving photovoltaic efficiency of DTBT-based D-A polymers, we design three polymers PDTBT-TxfBT (x = 0, 1, 2) with fluorination on D moiety (TxfBT) and systematically investigate fluorination on the photophysical/electrochemical and photovoltaic properties. The results show that polymer solar cells (PSCs) based on PDTBT-TBT exhibit moderate power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 5.84%. However, the bis-fluorination on TffBT moiety (PDTBT-TffBT) can greatly enhance the molecular planarity and intermolecular interaction, improve the charge transport and heterojunction morphology, and further suppress the charge recombination losses. PSCs based on PDTBT-TffBT demonstrate obviously improved photovoltaic efficiency with the best PCE up to 7.53% without any processing additives, which ranks among the top DTBT-based PSCs. However, it should be noted that unsymmetrical fluorination on TfBT moiety (PDTBT-TfBT) impairs the regularity of polymer backbone and intermolecular interaction, increases the recombination losses, and seriously reduces the short-circuit current density and efficiency (5.44%). The results exhibit that fluorination on D moiety is a helpful strategy for design high-performance photovoltaic materials and the regularity of fluorination is crucial to improving efficiencies.
Ocean acidification and eutrophication are two major environmental issues affecting kelp mariculture. In this study, the growth, photosynthesis, and biochemical compositions of adult sporophytes of Saccharina japonica were evaluated at different levels of pCO2 (400 and 800 µatm) and nutrients (nutrient-enriched and non-enriched seawater). The relative growth rate (RGR), net photosynthetic rate, and all tested biochemical contents (including chlorophyll (Chl) a, Chl c, soluble carbohydrates, and soluble proteins) were significantly lower at 800 µatm than at 400 µatm pCO2. The RGR and the contents of Chl a and soluble proteins were significantly higher under nutrient-enriched conditions than under non-enriched conditions. Moreover, the negative effects of the elevated pCO2 level on the RGR, net photosynthetic rate, Chl c and the soluble carbohydrates and proteins contents were synergized by the elevated nutrient availability. These results implied that increased pCO2could suppress the growth and biochemical composition of adult sporophytes of S. japonica. The interactive effects of ocean acidification and eutrophication constitute a great threat to the cultivation of S. japonica due to growth inhibition and a reduction in quality.
Time-resolved (TR) photoluminescence (PL) technique has shown great promise in ultrasensitive biodetection and high-resolution bioimaging. Hitherto, almost all the TRPL bioprobes are based on the parity-forbidden f→f transition of lanthanide ions. Herein, we report TRPL biosensing by taking advantage of the d→d transition of transition metal (TM) Mn 2+ ion. We demonstrate that the Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) signal can be distinguished from that of radiative reabsorption process through measuring the PL lifetime of Mn 2+ , thus establishing a reliable method for Mn 2+ in homogeneous TR-FRET biodetection. We also demonstrate the biotin receptor-targeted cancer cell imaging by utilizing biotinylated CaF 2 :Ce,Mn nanoprobes. Furthermore, we show in a proof-of-concept experiment the application of the long-lived PL of Mn 2+ for TRPL bioimaging through the burst shot with a cell phone. These findings provide a general approach for exploiting the long-lived PL of TM ions for TRPL biosensing, thereby opening up a new avenue for the exploration of novel and versatile applications of TM ions.
