Objetivos: Determinar los riesgos relacionados al desarrollo de diabetes tipo 2 en pacientes entre 19 y 40 años del hospital “María Auxiliadora”, San Juan de Miraflores del 2016 al 2018. Metodología: Observacional, Analítico de caso y control, retrospectivo, transversal. Se estudió pacientes adultos de ambos sexos con y sin DM tipo 2 atendidos en consulta externa del servicio de endocrinología del Hospital “María Auxiliadora; criterios de inclusión: Pacientes con y sin DM2 entre 19- 40a atendidos del 2016 al 2018. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó el programa de SPSS versión 25, considerando una diferencia estadísticamente significativa CHI2< 0.05. Resultados: De 160 ptes con DM2 y 172 ptes sin DM2, cumpliendo con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, En Aspecto sociodemográfico entre los casos el 30,4% fue de sexo femenino y 17,8% del sexo masculino (CHI2=1,836, OR= 0,738), en edad el 29,2% estaba en el intervalo de 19-30, 70,8% entre 31-40años (CHI2=1,927, OR= 0,714), para lugar de nac. el 48,2% registro pertenecer a la costa y 51,8% a la sierra (CHI2=0,816, OR= 0,0,820), en escolaridad, 49,1% tiene educación básica, 50, 9% cuenta con educación superior (CHI2=0,289, OR= 1,125), en estilo de vida registró que el 23,8% eran saludables, pero el 76,2% se encontraron en la categoría no saludable (CHI2=0,286, OR= 0,871); los antecedentes familiares se presentaron en el 31,3% y 59, 3% para los que no los tienen (CHI2=7,078, OR= 2,326), el IMC ≥30 estaba presente en el 43,1%, pero 56,9% no la presentó (CHI2= 6,045, OR= 1,730); en la deficiencia de producción de insulina el 68.4% la presentó, mientras que el 31,6% no (CHI2=0,378, OR= 1,157). Conclusiones: Los riesgos para desarrollar DM2 que presentaron riesgo bajo en cuanto al aspecto sociodemográfico fueron sexo, edad y lugar de nac., en cambio la escolaridad y estilo de vida, el riesgo fue ligeramente elevado, al igual que contar con un IMC≥30 y ser deficiente en producir insulina; caso contrario si se compara con los antecedentes familiares que si tuvo un riesgo significativamente alto.
