Die Arylindandione (I) reagieren mit siedendem Äthylenglykol in Gegenwart von p‐Toluolsulfonsäure unter Bildung der Diketale (III); primär entstehen die Monoketale (II).
Die Titelverbindungen (I) gehen unter der Einwirkung von Triethylamin in Acetonitril oder Ethylenchlorid in die tautomeren Aryliminothiole und weiter in kristalline Gemische von H‐Komplexen (II) mit salzartigen Verbindungen (III) über (IR‐Spektren).
