Neutron capture cross sections of europium isotopes I5'Eu and Is3Eu were measured in the neutron energy range of 3-100 keV. Experiments were carried out with the timeof-flight facility a t the 5 2 m station of the JAERI Electron Linear Accelerator. Prompt capture 7-rays were detected by a large liquid scintillation detector and the neutron flux shape was determined with a 'jLi glass scintillation detector. T h e average capture cross sections were examined in terms of energy independent strength functions for I5lEu and IS3Eu.
The radiative neutron capture cross section of 139La has been measured in the energy region of 70-2,540 eV using the 52 m neutron time-of-flight facility a t the Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute electron linac. Neutron capture events were detected with a 3,500 2 liquid scintillator tank. Individual resonances were analyzed using the area analysis method to obtain the capture widths. Capture data were corrected for the multiple scattering of neutrons in a sample by means of the Monte Carlo technique. Capture areas gr,Jr/r for 20 resonances and capture widths rr for 5 resonances were newly obtained.T h e present average capture cross section above 1.6 keV can be well reproduced by the statistical model calculation with the available average resonance parameters, hut below 1.6 keV is found to deviate from its prediction.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
