Abstract. The machined surface topography greatly influences the mechanical performance of workpiece. There exist many defects such as pits and scratches on machined surface in ultra-precision cutting of SiCp/Al composites. The existence of defects leads to the distortion of reference surface. It is necessary to investigate the filtering method of the machined surface in ultra-precision cutting of SiCp/Al composites. Firstly the machined surface of SiCp/Al composites is measured by confocal microscope. Then the Gaussian filtering method and robust Gaussian filtering method are used to construct the reference surface. The result shows that the robust Gaussian method is better for achieving the appropriate roughness data.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
