The thermal degradation process of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film in SF6 gas was investigated. At heating temperatures below 12OoC, the PET film almost retained initial characteristics. At 14OoC, the film showed significant changes in mechanical properties.Analysis using various testing apparatuses disclosed that the mechanical strength of PET film had a close relationship with changes in mean molecular weight, glass transition temperature, and crystallization starting temperature.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
