This paper introduces a fast algorithm for moving window principal component analysis (MWPCA) which will adapt a principal component model. This incorporates the concept of recursive adaptation within a moving window to (i) adapt the mean and variance of the process variables, (ii) adapt the correlation matrix, and (iii) adjust the PCA model by recomputing the decomposition. This paper shows that the new algorithm is computationally faster than conventional moving window techniques, if the window size exceeds 3 times the number of variables, and is not affected by the window size. A further contribution is the introduction of an N-step-ahead horizon into the process monitoring. This implies that the PCA model, identified N-steps earlier, is used to analyze the current observation. For monitoring complex chemical systems, this work shows that the use of the horizon improves the ability to detect slowly developing drifts.
This communication describes the design and synthesis of anti-sintering and -coke nickel phyllosilicate (PS) nanotubes (Ni/PSn) for hydrogen production via reforming reactions. The introduction of nickel particles in PS nanotubes could effectively maintain the Ni size and increase the resistance of metal particles for carbon deposition.
Background: R-(-)-linalool is a versatile acyclic monoterpene alcohol with applications in the flavor and fragrance, pharmaceutical, and agrochemical industries. However, plant extraction furnishes only limited and unstable R-(-)-linalool yields that do not satisfy market demand. Therefore, a sustainable yet efficient and productive method of R-(-)-linalool synthesis is urgently needed. Results: To induce the R-(-)-linalool biosynthesis pathway in E. coli , we expressed heterologous (3R)linalool synthase (LIS) from Lavandula angustifolia (laLIS). We then enhanced R-(-)-linalool production in the cells using a suitable LIS from Streptomyces clavuligerus (bLIS). The bLIS expression was markedly elevated by using optimized ribosomal binding sites (RBSs) and protein fusion tags. R-(-)linalool output rose from 4.8 mg L-1 to 33.4 mg L-1. A 3D macro-assembly with α-MnO(2) nanowires as flexible building blocks was obtained by a simple hydrothermal method. The sample with an interconnected open porous structure shows excellent mechanical strength, selective adsorption of cationic dyes and some certain types of toxic heavy metal ions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
