With the development of communication technology and the wide application of 5G information technology, various mobile equipment manufacturers have higher demands for compact, small, light, low-cost, and dual-band antennas. Therefore, this paper designs a metamaterial structure-based antenna with operating frequencies covering the wireless local area network (WLAN) bands. According to the simulated and measured results, the bandwidths of the antenna below −10 dB include 2.326 − 2.859 GHz and 4.995 − 5.854 GHz. The measured results are in good agreement with the simulated ones. Moreover, the radiation energy of the proposed antenna is relatively concentrated, and the gain can reach 3.5 dBi and 3.53 dBi at the center frequencies of two operating bands. All the results show that a novel CPW-fed antenna with compact structure, low cost, and dual-band is successfully implemented.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
