Background: CASTLE (Carcinoma showing thymus-like differentiation) in thyroid gland is a rare disease with favorable prognosis. Treating with surgery and adjuvant radiation therapy has been reported to be able to improve local controlling and long – term survival rates. In this report, we give an account of a clinical case of thyroid gland CASTLE and include relevant literature review in diagnosis and treatment of this disease.Case presentation: A 60-year-old female patient diagnosed with Castle in 2015, had a total thyroidectomy and hormone maintenance. After 5 years, the patient was diagnosed with recurrence, late stage and incapable of surgery. Due to the refusal of radiation therapy, the patient is followed and is currently stable after 15 months. Conclusions: CASTLE is a rare disease, diagnosis is based on postoperative pathology and immunohistochemistry analysis, especially upon CD5 marker. In the case of relapse, treatment includes surgery and radiation therapy. In some cases, follow-up is also an acceptable option for the patient.
Monitoring the exchanges of CO2 and energy between terrestrial ecosystems and the atmosphere is one of the approaches with high accuracy to quantify the contribution of tropical rainforest to climate. The results of the study in Nam Cat Tien forest ecosystem from 2012 to 2014 illustrate that this ecosystem plays the role of carbon sinks during 11 months in a years (over 90%) and the average uptake reaches 455,8 gC/m2. In addition, about 74% of the net radiation (155,8 W/m2) that the ecosystem obtainsis transformed into latent heat and about 23% into sensible heat thanks to the ability to restrict surface flow, fix groundwater and remain moisture at the high level.
The work presents the preliminary data of the large centipedes in the Cat Ba National Park based on field surveys from June 2013 to June 2014. A total of 14 scolopendromorpha species belonging to 3 genera and 1 family has been recorded there. Two common species Ostotigmus spinosus and Ostotigmus sp.3 have been found in almost all habitats. Among 3 recorded genera, Otostigmus is the most diverse genus with 10 species (accounts for 71.43% of total species). The species composition in the rainy season is higher than that in the dry season. The most obvious difference can be observed in the genus Otostigmus with 10 species (rainy season) compared with 3 species (dry season). No species belong to genera Scolopendra and Ethmostigmus were found in the dry season.
This paper introduces the results that study on the diversity of the large centipede Scolopendromorpha in Muong Nhe Nature Reserve (Dien Bien province). The results recorded 10 species belonging to five genera and two families. This result has added eight species to the centipede fauna in this area, bringing the total number of species recorded here to 11 species. Of which two species have been recorded by Vu et al. (2020) are Otostigmus multidens and Otostigmus aculeatus; The species Otostigmus voprosus recorded by Schileyko (2007) was not recorded in this study. For the species recorded, the study also provided basic information about the collected specimens such as coordinates, altitude... their distribution in Vietnam and some remark on species, specimens compared to other studies.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
